Neiborio Beach

The cosmopolitan beach of Andros

Neiborio Beach is located on the left side of Chora just a few meters from its main shopping street. The shallow sandy beach, especially near the Nautical Club, protected from the wind, is ideal for young children. It was the cosmopolitan beach of the island when access to more remote beaches was only possible by boat. However, as the years go by, no matter how much the habits change, Neiborio remains a point of reference for the vacationers of the island’s capital.

At Neiborio Beach there is also a small river that springs from the village of Lamira. After watering gardens and yards, it reaches the sea with water even in August. In the middle of the beach stands the well-known to the locals as the rock “Tourlos” that divides it in two. Sand on one side, pebbles on the other. Tourlos who in the morning becomes a “lounger” for young and old. The evening acquires a seductive look and emphasizes even more beautifully the wonderful view of the night country. Besides, one of the biggest trump cards of this beach is the unique view of the captain’s houses of Chora that are reflected in the water hooked on the rocks.

Besides, a short distance from the bathers in Neiborio Beach is the famous small church of Agia Thalassini. On a rock below the oldest part of Chora. The view from the beach also includes the square of Afanos Naftis with the adjacent island of Chora as well as the popular Tourlitis Lighthouse.

Neiborio Beach – The coastal zone of Chora

Very close to Neiborio Beach the visitor will find a large number of many commercial and tourist shops. The coastal zone of Neibori has restaurants, cafes, ouzo, beach bar, and bars. It even has a sailing school, the Andros Nautical Club. You will also find ADAMANTIA, the amazing art gallery in Andros. Crossing the beach the road continues to many popular destinations of the island such as the villages of Stenies, the beaches of Gialia and Piso Gyalia, and Apoikia with the source of Sariza.

At the western end of the beach stands the “Nautical Club of Andros”. Built literally on the sea with the children who practice sailing filling the bay with colorful sails. To go with their small boats to the other side of the beach. Where “Plakoura”, Agia Thalassini, “Riva” and the Castle compose as mosaics the beauty of the manorial capital of the island, Chora.
