The beach Chalkolimionas is located almost in the center of the western coastline of Andros, about 24 kilometers from the port of Gavrio and 12 kilometers from Chora. It is a long sandy beach and pebble beach that is easily accessible as the road leading to the beach is asphalted up to the sea.

Moving towards the crossroads of Stavropeda in central Andros, just take the Stavropeda junction to the right (if you come from Gavrio) or straight ahead if you come from Chora. Following the relevant signs and then turning right at the next two crossroads, you will find yourself in front of Chalkolimiona’s Beach with its recent open beach bar at its western end. You will find out how easily the beach is accessible via the asphalt road that goes down to the sea. It should be noted that the terrain’s morphology as well as the position of the beach create a protection from the northern winds which blowing in the area.
Chalkolimiona consists mainly of sand, but there are several pebbles and rocks there. Chalkolimona’s Beach is surrounded by rocks ideal for fishing. From the sandy beach you can also gaze at the ships that pass far away, while in the distance when the weather is good, Tzia, Syros and Giaros are distinguished. The waters are crystal clear and cool, while the tourists can enjoy refreshing drinks at the canteen.
The area of Stavropeda is known for the many important archaeological treasures that have been discovered there. It is the adjacent archaeological site of Strofila, the largest Neolithic settlement in the Aegean, and the geometric settlement of Zagora. Moreover, very close to Chalkolimonas Beach has been found that mines from ancient times up to the newer years have been operating.
